Arvind Kejriwal Slams PM, Accuses BJP Of “Dostvaad” Over Loan Write Offs

Taking aim at the Centre for waiving massive corporate debts while providing free water and education, he questioned, “What’s wrong with that?”

New Delhi: After taking a broadside at PM Modi’s “free revdi” remark, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal slammed the union government for waiving debts incurred by those related to the government “worth 10 lakh crore.” This is treason, he said, and it should be declared as such and those responsible should be punished.

Arvind Kejriwal Slams PM, Accuses BJP Of “Dostvaad” Over Loan Write Offs

In a statement, the Aam Aadmi Party chief accused the BJP of “dostvaad” (favoring friends) and the Congress of “parivarvaad” (dynastic politics) without naming them.

The mayor questioned why power should only be provided to ministers and not to ordinary people. Is it wrong to provide free water and free education?” he asked, attacking the Centre for writing off massive corporate debts while referring to them as freebies.

It is being argued that the term freebies is creating a negative atmosphere against free government welfare services, instead of strengthening them as we celebrate our 75th anniversary as a nation.

Kejriwal, visibly agitated in an online briefing, demanded that free education and healthcare be provided to every household, 300 units of electricity be supplied to every household, and unemployment benefits be provided.

It is hypocritical for these people to waive off the loans of their friends with interest of 10 lakh crore. Such people should be called traitors and investigated,” he said in addition to waiving off the loans of their friends with interest.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had last month cautioned people against what he called a “revdi (sweet) culture” under which votes were sought by promising freebies and said this could be “very dangerous” for the development of the country.
